Wasting Time on God
I was recently at a meeting where a friend and colleague, who happens to be a Catholic priest shared a wonderful devotion. Seeing that it is the New Year, he reflected on the significance of time. Time is a gift from God our Creator, the Eternal One. In God's great and steadfast love, God chose to create from God's own eternal beingness. Because all of creation is the precious gift including time, the greatest gift we can give in return to the very being that created us is time.
St. Terese of Liseaux, was very concerned in her practice of contemplation, reflection, prayer and devotion to God. She would spend hours and hours each and every day and altough she tried hard to be devoted to God, her attempts were futile as her mind would drift off, she would become distracted and would often fall asleep! She was heartbroken that she was "wasting her time". Eventually, she did find some consolation in the fact that though she was "wasting her time", at least she was "wasting" it on God!
This New Year and New Decade,
may you resolve to "waste" more time on God!!!
